The 10th TAWANG Maitree Diwas culminated on 29 Nov with Civil Military Maitree as the underlying theme for the event.
Organised at an unprecedented scale this year, the mega event saw performances by Army personnel from all over the country showcasing the Military might and Martial arts and skills to the exclusive audience of the serene and peaceful town of Tawang, perched in lap of Himalayas.
The proceedings were co-chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu and GOC, Ball of Fire Division, Major General RK Jha, besides attendance by other senior Military and Civil dignitaries.
The day began with traditional welcome of the CM and the GOC and other guests in Tawang’s very own style, followed by back to back enmeshed performances by Army Martial Arts Teams, the Military Bands and the heart warming Patriotic dance performances by the energetic Youth and school children.
The item by Manjushree kids was applauded by one and all. Before the celebrations culminated, the CM and the GOC felicitated the ace performers and the distinguished locals for their contribution in security, growth and development of Tawang.
Pema Khandu and Maj Gen RK Jha visited the stalls established, interacting with the public and finally signing off with a historical photograph with the participants of Maitree Diwas 2018. The day ended with the customary dinner hosted by the CM for the Army Civil mitrs, as he calls them now.
During the 10th Maitree Diwas, proposals have also been received from locals and Civil administration for Maitree Diwas like events to be organised all over the Tawang and Kameng Sectors, albeit at a lower scale, to further strengthen the Civil Military relationship to greater heights of glory and prominence.
