Sonowal visits Assam Medical College and Hospital

As a part of sequel of steps that he has been taking to make the health sector in the State more advanced and accessible, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today undertook a visit to Assam Medical College and Hospital at Dibrugharh and inspected its various wards and vowed to upgrade the hospital with state of the art technologies to ensure better treatment to the patients.

He took stock of the paediatric ward, post-natal ward, obstetrics and gynaecology department, radio therapy, ICU for the infants, mother and child care room and held a meeting with the heads of all the departments and the administrative staff and assured all help from the government to make the hospital a state of the art institution. He also inspected the construction of a new building and boys hostel.

Sonowal visits to Assam Medical College and HospitalHe said that AMCH the oldest in the State would get a facelift as the State Government would take several steps for infrastructural development of the hospital. He however, stressed on cleanliness and a well coordinated network of drainage system in the hospital and assured the hospital authority to take steps to address all the shortcomings.

Principal cum Chief Superintendent Dr. H.K. Goswami while throwing lights on the up gradation work of medical college, informed that the Government of Assam under TNEF scheme Rs. 100 crore was sanctioned as the amount would be utilised over a period of three years for the repair and renovation of the hospital.

Chief Minsiter Sonowal took stock several of the hospital’s other amenities like approach road, cleanliness of the peripheral areas and assured to take pragmatic steps to address these issues. He also asked Additional Chief Secretary Alak Kumar to ensure quality construction of buildings and roads that connect different departments of the hospital. Sonowal also asked him to take care of the maintenance of the existing buildings of the hospital.

MP Rameshwar Teli, MLAs Prasanta Phukan, Bimal Bora, Chakradhar Gogoi, Sanjay Kisan, Suren Phukan, Tapan Gogoi, Rituparna Baruah, Additional chief Secretary for PWD Alak Kumar, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Samir Sinha, Principal of the College Dr. H.K. Goswami, DC Laya Madduri along with others were present during Chief Minister’s visit.
