The decision to expel Lalzirliana was taken at an emergency meeting jointly held by the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) and DAC on Sunday at the official residence of Lal Thanhawla, who is also the MPCC chief.

The expulsion order was issued by C Lalpianthanga, chairman of the DAC, who said Lalzirliana had refused to explain his actions even after being showcaused.

The show cause notice was served to Lalzirliana on Tuesday last giving him time till 3 pm on Friday to explain his alleged ties with the opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) party.
