Heavy Rains Likely Over Meghalaya, Arunachal, Assam, Nagaland

Southwest Monsoon will continue to remain active giving moderate to heavy rainfall over Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Nagaland during the next 2 to 3 days.

Light to moderate spells are also expected over Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the same time frame. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal including Sikkim may also get to see some moderate to heavy rains.

Southwest Monsoon has been pouring good rain and thundershowers over the northeastern states of the country along with adjoining Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Throughout the month of August, the aforesaid areas continued with Monsoon showers with varying intensity and seldom had they gone dry. The month of September also began on somehwhat similar note over the region.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Cherrapunji recorded 142 mm of rains, followed by Pasighat 100 mm, North Lakhimpur 70 mm, Agartala 65 mm, Dhubri 51 mm, Itanagar 38 mm, Mazbat 37 mm, Shillong 37 mm, Jorhat 32 mm, Tezpur 25 mm, Goalpara 21 mm, Tawang 20 mm and Anani 14 mm of rains.

Moreover, the southerly moist winds are also prevailing over most parts of the Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.
