Chief ministers of NE States take part in ‘Run for Unity’

“National Unity day” was celebrated all over northeast and Chief Ministers also took part in “Run for Unity” on this occasion. A  Large number of people participated in the event organised by Private and govt institutions, army, para military forces, school, clubs, and  other organisations.  

Assam- Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal led the state in paying tribute to the architect of the integration of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 143rd birth anniversary by taking part in ‘Run for Unity’  here on Wednesday. On the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), which is observed every year on the birthday of Sardar Patel, Sonowal joined a mammoth gathering in the ‘Run for Unity’ on Wednesday  morning from Nehru Stadium to Judges Field and addressed them with a call to keep the ideals of Sardar Patel alive by reinforcing unity and harmony in the society.

Arunachal Pradesh-   Chief minister Pema Khandu took part in the ‘Rrun for Unity’ held at Tawang on the occasion ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ to spread the message of unity and diversity in the country . The race was organised by the district administration to commemorate the 143rd birth anniversary of former Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of India, Sardar Vallabhai Patel.The event began with reading out the text of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge by Chief Minister where more than 700 people participated. The 5 km marathon race began at Tawang Monastery culminating at Tawang War Memorial.

Tripura- Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb along with his cabinet colleagues, BJP MLAs and security force personnel take part in the run to spread the message of unity in diversity in the country. Chief Minister also  flagged off the rally – Run for Unity at Vivekananda stadium here on the occasion of Rastriya Ekta Diwas to commemorate the birth anniversary of first deputy prime minister of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Nalbari ( Assam ) – Unit of Red Horns Division, also demonstrated its cause towards the same by participating in a Mini Marathon, Run for Unity, organized by the district police, on 31 October 2018 at Nalbari, Assam. The event was flagged off by the District Commissioner, SK Das, and saw a humongous participation both by the Security Forces & civilians to include students from various schools/ colleges of the district. The run was for a stretch of 10.5 km along the national highway passing across the district. The unit participated with one officer and nine other ranks, bagging the 1st, 3rd & 7th positions amongst the top 10 competitors. The program culminated by the prize distribution ceremony by the DC, SP (Nalbari) & the OC, Nalbari, Company Operating Base, as well. This participation & victorious feat of the unit reinstated the spirit of security & bonhomie amongst the local populace towards the Army of the Nation, which would go a long way in nation building and fostering the Awam-Jawan relationship.

Shillong ( Meghalaya ) -The Border Security Force organised a series of  events at Frontier Headquaters Umpling, Sector Headquaters  Mawpat and Dobasipara as will as other location of BSF battalions in Meghalaya. The day started with the conduct of “ 2 kms Marchpast for unity” followed by Oath Taking Parade by sentinels of border. All the troops on duty also took pledge to work for the unity of the nation and the pledge was given by  L Mohanti, Inspector General Meghalaya.   BSF personnel were celebrating with fervour the occasion of `Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” to foster and reinforce the dedication to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and security of the nation. Durng the  “ 2 kms Marchpast for unity” from  Mawpat(Shillong), Sh. U K Nayal, DIG/PRO took part and apprised  the troops about life and vision of Sardar Patel
