Railway Protection Force (RPF) acting promptly on information rescued 5 minor boys alongwith 2 traffickers from platform no 1 of Rangiya station on last Monday .

As per details divulged by Ashok Das, Inspector RPF, Rangiya, on the receipt of intelligence about the movement of traffickers with minors, constables were deployed in plain clothes as decoys who approached the suspects, conversed with them.

When it was found that the minors could not reply satisfactorily to their questions, the forces swung into action and arrested the traffickers.

 Constable Rubul Mahanta, Bhaskar Malakar of RNY post and Constable Dilip Chakraborty ,  Manaj Ali of CPDS (Crime Protection & Detection Squad) of RPF / Rangiya were involved in the operation.

Later the traffickers along with the rescued minors were handed over to GRP (Government Railway Police) for further action.

The northeast is a popular hunt for traffickers from where vulnerable minors are taken to places like Nepal and other parts of India for use as child labours.

RPF of N.F. Railway has been instrumental in rescuing minors from the hand of traffickers. During the year 2017 RPF rescued 515 minor children and arrested 11 traffickers. This year RPF has already rescued nearly 170 children from railway premises all over N.F. Railway.

Child labourers rescued

In an another operation, three child labourers (one boy and two girls) were rescued by a joint team of the Dibrugarh district administration, labour department, police and Childline NGO from different locations of Dibrugarh last evening.

Based on specific information, the district task force team, led by assistant commissioner Rashmi Pratap, first raided in the residence of the Deputy Registrar in Dibrugarh University campus and rescued one girl engaged as domestic help.

Later another girl and one boy were rescued from  Boiragimoth area. House owner names are Usman Ali and Imran Hussain of development colony, Boiragimoth.

Three FIR  have been registered against the house owners under Child Labour Prohibition and Regulation Act in Dibrugarh sadar police station by the Labour inspector.
