Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi, Adil Khan reviewed the status and progress of Measles Rubella vaccination campaign with senior health officials and functionaries.

Reviewing the status of progress at his office conference hall on Thursday evening, Deputy Commissioner Khan asked the health authorities to build up awareness on a big scale in schools and outreach areas where stiff resistance has come up against the vaccination drive. So far 54 schools under Algapur, 17 under Katlicherra and 9 under Lala revenue circles have resisted the vaccination drive. As against 1,485 schools, 149 schools have registered cent per cent success so far. A little over 2.15 lakh children in the age group of nine months and 15 years are targeted under the vaccination campaign in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Khan directed the senior health officials to ensure presence of medical officers at the vaccination session sites. He instructed the health officials to submit the micro plan along with daily schedule of vaccination to the Circle Officers for better coordination and results.

Khan directed the Circle Officers to hold meetings with the Block PHC in-charge and ensure 100% vaccination. “If any health official is found to be neglecting his/her duties, it should be immediately brought to my notice for immediate action,” he told the Circle Officers.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the health authorities to reschedule the plan in those areas where status of vaccination is partial or very less. He underscored the need to gear up IPC activities by ANMs and ASHA workers and supervisors in schools and outreach areas where vaccination is low.

District Development Commissioner, FR Laskar asked the BEEOs, IS and SIs to ensure MR vaccination in all schools of the district. He directed the CRCCs to ensure 100% vaccination not only in their respective clusters of schools but also in all households. “No excuses will be tolerated,” Laskar warned.
