Assam Police gun down NDFB(S) Platoon Commander

In an encounter  Assam police  gun down a NDFB(S) platoon commander of the West Zone in Dumbazar area of Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Wednesday. The commander has been identified as Sergeant Major Soheton Narzary, who was popular as the power house of the outfit .

Talking to Northeastindia24 ,  Rajen Singh , SP Kokrajhar  said that ” the police got  a specific information that some NDFB (S) cadres would come to Dum Bazar area for  extortion  money from timber traders.  Kokrajhar district police laid the Ambush on the area” .

At about 8:15 PM, three militants appeared in  Dum Bazar from the near by Forest area. As the militants were passing through the Village, the Ambush party challenged the militants. On being challenged, the militants opened indiscriminate fire upon the Ambush party as a result of which 2(two) APR commandos were grazed by bullets and sustained injury in their hands, said Rajen singh

However, the ambush party immediately fired back on the heavily armed militants, that lasted for about 20 minutes.

after the Ambush  when  a search was carried out and a heavily armed militant was found killed and the slain militant was later identified as Soheton Narzary @ Sandwe, the most dreaded NDFB (S) militant leader of Kokrajhar district.

Other two managed to escape out of which one, namely, Martyars Narzary @ N. Maothi, a 42nd Batch cadre of NDFB (S) is suspected to have sustained bullet injuries, informed Rajen singh.

During further search police recovered  one AK-56 with Magazine,  219 nos of  AK Amns live rd , 16  nos of  AK empty cases , one  Detonator , two Pistol Magazine , one Magazine pouch ,  two H/E 36 Hand Granade two Mobile phones with 4 sim cards,  and Ten thousand rupees cash , from the possession of killed militant.

Further Mr singh informed tha  ”  Slain militant,  Soheton Narzary was the Powerhouse of the outfit in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts. He was involved in extortion from petty traders and sending money to Myanmar for the outfit there. On 9th April/2017, Sandwe was reportedly hit by several bullets in an encounter that took place in Chirang, but he survived that encounter and came back to Gossaigaon area. He was also trying to procure more arms / ammunitions for the new cadres who have recently intruded into the district from Myanmar.

Recently, on 16/11/2017 one Rashna Basumatary of Dumbazar was attacked and fired upon by this slain militant suspecting him to be a source of Army. This refers Gossaigaon PS Case No.455/2017 U/S-120(B)/121/121(a)/ 122/326/307/34 IPC, R/W Sec.27(2) Arms Act, R/W Sec.10/13 UA(P) Act.
