Assam Police Day : Hailakandi SP fiat for better police-public interface

Along with the rest of the State, Assam Police Day was observed in a befitting manner in Hailakandi district of Assam.  Synchronizing with the day, Hailakandi district police administration organised a police-public interface meeting at Police Reserve here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Superintendent of Police, Mohneesh Mishra, IPS, said the police intends to promote better interface with the public to make the society crime free. He urged his subordinates to build rapport with the members of the public by plugging any communication gap that might exist to prevent crimes.

The district police administration proposes to carry on with the police-public interaction in different parts of the district in near future.

SP Mishra eulogised the police personnel for their sacrifices to maintain law and order round the clock so that peace and tranquility prevails in the society. He also paid rich tributes to police personnel who had laid down their lives while discharging their duties.

Members of the public, leading citizens, media and policemen in large numbers, including DSP Jagadish Das and President Indian Red Cross Society, Hailakandi chapter, Khitish Ranjan Paul took part in the interactive programme.

In the run-up to the Assam Police Day, varied programmes were organised by the district police administration on Sunday. Awareness meetings were held and impressive rallies brought out highlighting crimes like drug abuse, mob violence, lynching and cyber crime from police headquarters and police stations across the district.

A debate competition was also organised in which many colleges participated. SP Mishra and other dignitaries gave away prize money to the winners of the competition.

SP Office and police stations were illuminated to commemorate the day.
