Assam: Police arrested ULFA (I) over ground activist

An ULFA ( I) over ground activist Pradeep konwar of Gospuria, Moran was arrested on Monday by 9 Rajputana Rifles of Army from Lahoal.

Army has recovered one 3.2mm pistol, one magazine, 3 live rounds, one mobile phone with 2 sim cards from him. He has been handed over to Lahoal police station.

Dibrugarh police arrested last night two culprits namely, Vishal Das and Sumit@Partha Ghosh, both resident of Shantipara, Dibrugarh in connection with Dibrugarh PS case no.902/2018 u/s 384 IPC.

They are involved in demanding Rs 10 Lacs from a businessman of the town. They were regularly demanding the amount over phone since 20th June, 2018 without revealing their identity and threatening the businessman to face dire consequences if he fails to fulfil their demand.

They fixed 25th June as deadline for payment. Police has taken them for two days remand after producing  them before the court today. Police investigation is on for further action in the case.
