North East Small Finance Bank Limited has started its services in Hailakandi town. The bank was formally launched by Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi, Adil Khan on Monday.

Speaking, as a chief guest, at the inaugural function, Khan said the banking services are not at all adequate in interior and far-flung areas of the district and urged the banking authorities to open up a branch in its southern part to which he assured of full support and cooperation from the administration. “Setting up of a branch in interior areas of South Hailakandi will help the bank to reach out to people who are still deprived of the banking services,” added Khan.

Addressing the gathering, Divisional Officer, North East Small Finance Bank Limited, Anup Kumar Sinha said Hailakandi is the 75th branch of the bank and it has now in operation 74 branches across the North East part of the country, including Silchar and Karimganj.

Sinha said like the nationalised banks, North East Small Finance Bank Limited offers a wide array of services to the customers at their very doorsteps. He urged the people of every segment of society to come forward and avail the bouquet of products offered by the bank.

Rashtriya Gram Vikash Nidhi (North East)  Microfinance Limited obtained the small finance bank license from the Reserve Bank of India on March 31, 2017, mandating it to carry out banking services in remote and ‘unbanked’ areas of eight Northeastern states as well as in West Bengal.
