Assam: Mega Health Mela held in remote Bondukmara

Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli inaugurated the health mela.

The District Health Committee, Hailakandi organised a day-long Health Mela under the National Health Mission (NHM) at Bondukmara, a remote place in Hailakandi district on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli inaugurated the health mela in the presence of Joint Director, Health Services, Dr. Abed Rasul Mazumder and other officials of the health department.

Jalli said the health mela is being organised at interior Bondukmara so that people can get health check-ups and resolve their health concerns instead of going to the block PHC or the civil hospital.

She urged the people to come forward to enrol themselves under the Atal Amrit Abhiyan and Ayushman Bharat Yojana to get free diagnosis, surgery and insurance cover up to Rs.5 lakh.

The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the people to extend cooperation to the administration and health authorities to set a new benchmark in the health firmament in the days ahead.

District Programme Manager, NHM, Maruf Alom Barbhuiya informed that 25 doctors including specialists and around 150 paramedical staff and officials attended the health mela. Altogether 1,621 patients were given treatment and medicine free of cost. Mobile Medical Unit, Sanjivani 104, was also pressed into service.

Atal Amrit Abhiyan and Ayushman Bharat enrolment forms were also distributed during the mela. Street plays were staged by Gono Mukti Sanstha to create awareness on different health related issues and schemes.
