Kishan Kalyan Karyashala was held at different blocks in Hailakandi district of Assam as part of ongoing Gram Swaraj Abhiyan today.
Organised by the District Agricultural Department, the farmers’ workshops were organised at Hailakandi, Algapur, Lala, Katlicherra and South Hailakandi blocks.
The farmers’ welfare workshops were attended by agricultural officers, experts, progressive farmers and district heads of allied departments.
A central function was held at the District Agricultural office premises at Laxmisahar in Hailakandi block. Speakers discussed ways for doubting the farmers’ income by 2022, a key promise made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The workshops highlighted the importance of key strategic interventions and to take technology to farmers to encourage a two-way traffic between experts and farmers to evolve solution to local problems.
Farmers were also felicitated on the occasion.
The rural centric campaign had begun on April 14, the birth anniversary of Dalit icon BR Ambedkar, and will conclude on May 5.
