In accordance with Kaziranga University’s commitment to promote new-age education in the North-East, especially in line with growing industry requirements, Kaziranga University has launched its sixth academic school, the School of Health Sciences (SHS), in collaboration with Apollo MedSkills Ltd. (AMSL).

The establishment of the School of Health Sciences is a remarkable addition to Kaziranga University’s existing academic centers of learning which include the School of Engineering & Technology (SET), School of Business (SOB), School of Computing Sciences (SCS), School of Basic Sciences (SBS) and the School of Social Sciences (SSS). To be started full-fledged in the upcoming academic year, the School of Health Sciences will be offering courses and programmes in Physiotherapy, Advanced Imaging Technology, Trauma, Emergency & Disaster Management, Medical Laboratory Technology, Operation Theatre Technology, Dialysis and Optometry.

The new school is an outcome of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Apollo Medskills Ltd. (AMSL) earlier in the year, to develop and promote health education and training programmes for the students of the region. Through the collaboration with Apollo MedSkills, Kaziranga University’s School of Health Sciences aims to facilitate two-year Management Programmes, Undergraduate programmes, Certificate programmes, nursing-related and other career progression programmes in the field of health, wellbeing and heath management education. Along with Apollo Medskills, the School of Health Sciences will also be facilitated by Medvarsity, India’s first Medical e-learning venture, an initiative by Apollo Hospitals Group, which is also the leader in healthcare in Asia Pacific Region, having the first JCI accredited hospital in India.

The collaboration also covers the deliverance of 6 month internship programmes for its students as a part of the curriculum, moderated by AMSL. This would not only help students get exposure to Apollo Group of Hospitals, but will also familiarize them for placements and other associations with the partnered hospitals of AMSL, including Sanjevani Hospitals, MaxCure Hospitals, Lifeline Multispecialty Hospitals, Vamshi Hospitals among several other renowned names.

This launch comes at a very important time where the need of the hour is the expansion of the professional health care sector not only in the North East, but also throughout the country. With the shortage of skilled health professionals and technical centres in the region, academic centers such as this can play a vital role in bringing exposure, knowledge and job-oriented skill training into the North-East, and helping boost the region’s institutional and technological growth and development.

Kaziranga University takes great pride in introducing new-age, industry aligned courses and skill-training programmes in the region, especially in burgeoning fields such as health sciences and allied sectors. With the increased focus on the economic and social growth of the North-Eastern states, KU aims to fulfil the common vision of the nation, in bridging the employability gap of the young people and to make inclusive the state’s and country’s economic growth.
