The district administration headed by Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan and Superintendent of Police Mohneesh Mishra constantly monitored the law and order situation in all the 57 NRC Seva Kendras and in all the identified sensitive areas.

DC Khan and SP Mishra thanked the people of Hailakandi district for their support and cooperation all along in the NRC updation exercise and for maintaining peace and tranquility in the entire district.

They appealed to the people to be on alert to thwart the attempts by some forces to disturb peace and to cooperate with the administration in ensuring a correct and flawless NRC free from the names of illegal migrants.

Mishra said additional forces have been deployed in the sensitive areas to instil confidence among the people. He disclosed that the district has adequate security forces to deal with any kind of law and order problem.

The SP further said that no mercy would be shown to anyone for trying to put a spanner in the ongoing NRC updation exercise through vilification campaigns either in social media or in print and electronic media.

Section 144 Cr.PC has been clamped in the entire district.

Khan said those whose names did not figure in the complete draft would get enough opportunities to incorporate their names by filing claims between August 30 and September 28.

“Genuine Indian citizens have nothing to fear or worry about. Their names will be included at any cost,” he reiterated.
