Four people have been arrested for allegedly raping a teenage girl in Lanka, Central Assam, police said on Sunday.
Police had arrested four persons who allegedly raped a 13-year-old minor girl in Lanka, a small town in Central Assam. The incident took place at Ejarbari village near Kaki in the central Assam on Saturday night.
The Victim is a Class VII student, was allegedly gang-raped by seven people when she was on her way to home after attending a religious event on Saturday night. The accused allegedly took her from the village road to a paddy field and committed the crime.
Later, villagers rescued the minor girl and informed local police.
The Hojai police on Sunday had arrested four persons for their alleged involvement into the incident and launched operation to nab the other accused.
A case has been registered at Kaki police station under the POCSO Act.
The arrested persons have been identified as Kanai Mazumdar, Rupan Rai, Rohit Kishku and Sumit Mardi. The arrested persons have accepted that they were involved in committing the crime, informed police.
Meanwhile the search is on to nab the others who committed the crime, informed local police.
