The Hailakandi district administration showcased the achievements of State, Central and flagship programmes and schemes.

Addressing a Press Meet at his office conference hall here on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan said the aspirational district has made progress under various development in sectors like health, education, roads and infrastructure, fisheries, agriculture, public health engineering, social welfare, skill development, employment and entrepreneurship, water resources, food and civil supplies.

Khan said in financial inclusion programmes such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana the district has surpassed the targets.

The Deputy Commissioner said one of the major achievements has been that the aspirational district has become open defecation free in September this year. 84614 Individual Household Latrines have been constructed under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), he disclosed.

Under health sector the district has made good strides in the ongoing Measles Rubella vaccination campaign with over 65 per cent achievement so far and in implementation of welfare oriented schemes such as Janani Sishu Suraksha Karyakram and Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram.

In the education sector, the district has made remarkable achievements in schemes like Mid-Day Meal, free distribution of textbooks to school students, construction of girls’ and boys’ toilets and additional classrooms.

The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted the achievements under NRLM, DDU-GKY, MGNREGA, NSAP, CM’s Special Package, among others.

Khan said the district has a green cover above the national average with massive plantations carried out in over 44 hectare of land. In the fisheries sector, 130 new ponds have been built under Blue Revolution scheme.

In the social sector, 100 per cent target has been fulfilled in implementation of Supplementary Nutrition Programme in 1,374 AWCs.

District Development Commissioner, FR Laskar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Amalendu Roy, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ruth Lienthang, SDO (Sadar), Prodip Timung and district heads of all the departments addressed the media and highlighted the achievements of their respective departments.
