Assam: DC hands over cheque as ex-gratia to family members of raped and murdered victim

Hailakandi Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan on Monday visited the residence of raped and murdered victim, at Betcherra under Ramnathpur Police Station along Assam – Mizoram interstate border.

The 14-year-old minor girl was raped and murdered while she was alone at her home on March 14. Police have apprehended one Jashimuddin Borbhuiya.
Deputy Commissioner Khan handed over a cheque for Rs.3 lakh as ex-gratia to the next of kin of the victim.
Khan interacted with the family members of the victim and assured that law would take its own course in meting out stringent punishment to the perpetrator of the heinous crime.
The Deputy Commissioner also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Several organisations under the banner of Tribal Sangha today brought out protest rallies from Rabindra Bhawan to Deputy Commissioner’s office in Hailakandi town.
They handed over a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner demanding stern action against the culprit for the dastardly act.
