Assam: Army organises Run for Peace, Unity and Fitness at Rangia

The Chindits Battalion of Red Horns Division organised RUN FOR PEACE, UNITY AND FITNESS, at Rangia in Assam.

The Chindits Battalion of Red Horns Division organised a mini marathon – RUN FOR PEACE, UNITY AND FITNESS, under the banner of Indian Army’s, ‘Civic Outreach Programme – Operation Sadbhavana’, to promote the spirit of freedom and sports for the local youth populace on the morning of 03 February 2019 at Rangia, Assam.

The event saw a colossal participation of 1757 participants from various districts of Lower Assam and included 703 ladies participant. The race was Flagged off by the Indian Youth icon Captain Ignace Tirkey, Padma Shree, Arjuna Awardee, former Captain of the Indian Hockey team, in the presence of Military & Civil dignitaries.

The occasion was also ignited by jubilant performance of Zumba and Dance troupes from the State Capital, Guwahati. To add on to the flavour of the entertainment, Mr Universe 2009, Mr Mahadev Deka presented a delightful bodybuilding show.

The event was a huge success which culminated with the prize distribution ceremony to the winners of both open Male and Female categories with cash award and Finisher medal with participation certificate for all participants.

The event was well appreciated by the localites, fostering the bond of friendship between the Citizens and its Army, thus garnering goodwill towards the Nation as a whole.
