Assam:  Army conducting search for missing family in Dikhow River in Sibsagar

An unfortunate incident took place at Dechial village in Sibsagar, Assam in which five family members while travelling in their Car fell into the Dikhow River.

An unfortunate incident took place at Dechial village in Sibsagar District at 9 PM on 01 September 2018 in which five family members while travelling in their Car fell into the Dikhow River.

Sibsagar District Civil administration swung into action and a detailed search was carried out by NDRF and SDRF on 02 September 18.

The search could not locate the car due to difficult conditions posed to divers. Later, Army divers were requisitioned by state administration.

A team of 14 divers of Army Special Forces unit under the Spear Corps based at Dimapur commenced the search in early morning hours on 03 September 2018.

The river is 70-80 metre wide with strong currents, making the search a slow and deliberate process. Due to the recent rains, the water has become muddy which is also delaying the search.

 Personnel of NDRF & local villagers are also assisting the Army in the  search operation
